Happy New Year to Everyone!
I, for one, am very very happy to see the end of 2006. It was not a good year here at the Squiggler household. I started the year with a fractured vertebrae, 3 cracked ribs, a sprained wrist, and a severe case of whiplash that caused incredibly painful back spasms that went on for well over 2 months. This was followed up by the stress of dealing with my house problems and then the death of my beloved dog, Becki, and then a huge move that isn't over yet. On Sept. 11th, I reinjured my back and spent the remainder of the year both virtually housebound and in a heck of a lot of pain. So, I figure 2007 has got to be better than that.
My civil suit on the police brutality case is finally reaching closure with depositions next week and a settlement conference scheduled for the end of January. It has been a long six years waiting to get to this point. As soon as the court stuff is a wrap, I start the moving business all over again and complete my relocation to Florida and a brand new start. I'm upbeat and looking forward to the future. My son and daughter are both doing well, my Grandaughter got straight As and her driver's license, my little dog Princess has helped sooth the pain of the loss of her housemate. I am beginning to feel a sense of freedom I haven't felt since I had to take on the full time care for my Mother back in 2000.
I still have some residual back pain, but without the weight of all the stress it is tolerable and is overshadowed by my excitement at getting on with life. The few weeks that I took off from blogging every day has also allowed me to get away from the myopic views of the intensely partisan and reacquaint myself with friends and neighbors whose lives have gone on without knowing the minutia of every little scandal or every political decision. I start this New Year with a renewal of faith in myself, my loved ones, and my country and my very best wishes that my Squiggler readers have a super dee duper 2007.
May your best day of 2006 be your worst in 2007. Happy New Year!
