Our little dog, "Becki" (front) is 15 1/2 years old and she is quite sick this weekend. She somehow cut the inside of her mouth and she is in much pain because of an infection. Her son, "Fritzie" (back) is 12 years old and he is definitely concerned about his Mama. My son took this picture last night with his cell phone camera as they were lying on a doggie pad in front of the fire. They are long-haired miniature Dachshunds. Fritzie will not allow anyone but me or my son to approach Becki. He knows she is too weak to defend herself. Chivalry at its best.
UPDATE 4:55 PST:
Becki passed away in my arms just a few minutes ago. She has been a wonderful pet and a dear dear friend. I am so sad.
If only we could get Democrats in America to care that much about their fellow Americans.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We've lost two, one
12, and the other 13. Years later, the good memories
bring comfort. Hope yours do also.

Sara
I wish to give you something, take it as you will
It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that we call love.
I know it is tardy but it says something about your recent loss of a companion whose wounds I don't wish to reopen, but wish to help.
Better tomorrows and live the hope
