What is it with our supposedly "learned" journalists? Is their dumbing down a recent phenomenon? It is scary to think that we've been spoon fed their ignorance for years and years.
A Newsbusters story on Chris Matthews of Hardball fame details the embarrassing (Newsbusters calls it disgraceful) ignorance of a man who at one time was considered the cream of the crop. Matthews is on MSNBC on weeknights and has his own Sunday show as well. One has to wonder how he could be so uninformed ... ignorant ... about stories he has been reporting about for years.

Without a doubt, Americans who have even a rudimentary understanding of the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and Islamic terrorism must be amazed by the continued ignorance being exhibited by the mainstream media as hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel exploded in the past three weeks. One of the finest examples of this occurred on “The Chris Matthews Show” Sunday when the host concluded the program by actually blaming this flare up on – drum roll please – George W. Bush and the war in Iraq.
So, I finish reading about Chris Matthews and the next story I click on is this eye roller from Patterico. Go read it all.

Yes, if you ask the editors of the Los Angeles Times, it’s an utter mystery why the shootings occurred. At least, if you look at Page One. Here is a graphic from the paper’s front page today, teasing stories appearing inside the paper:

All I can say is thank goodness for blogs. Even with all the cat fights, the potty mouth kiddie korps, and the trolls, excellent research, fact checking, and information and idea exchanges can be found all over the blogosphere.
