I haven't surfed Blog Explosion for awhile, so tonight I decided to kill some time and take a look at what's happening outside the political blogs I normally read. I am happy to say I've discovered a blog new to me that I will be checking back on regularly. The following post is a taste and I would also encourage you to read another entry I found to be very informative as a fellow blogger entitled "How to make the most out of blog explosion."

How far can (or will) your blog posts go?

In his post The power and dangers of blogging, Mark Chillingworth focuses on an interesting issue.
Following a couple of posts that were “harsh towards Mac users”, the Mac community reacted back with many reply posts and comments. All triggered by the “Apple” keyword in the original feed, Mark concludes.
Blog posts indeed reach the furthest corners of our globe, and your words may reach people you never met or will never meet. This is the true power of the internet.
What’s more, despite the very dynamic and ever-changing profile of the blogosphere, blog posts are in fact timeless messages in the bottle. Once in a while I receive an email or a trackback on a post I had long forgotten. Even some of the test-posts on blogs I have already taken off completely continue to exist in search engines (hence the “never delete a post once you’ve posted it” rule in bloggers’ ethic).
Test your own, search for an earlier blog you had. Or a title or key phrase you had on one your oldest articles you can remember. You’d be surprised at the results it produces.
Lesson to learn? Take the responsibility of your posts. Your words on every post you make, spread all over the wide world to echo your thoughts, practically forever. Very powerful and flattering, but Mark puts it, potentially dangerous as well.
