With all of our modern technology, it is hard to reference how a total eclipse of the sun will affect those in third world and less developed countries where the population does not have access to 24 hour cable TV and the Internet. I would think that such an event would be very frightening and ripe for scam artists to use as an excuse to call it the work of Satin or the work of Allah, who knows which?
ACCRA, Ghana (AP) -- Tourists and scientists were gathering at spots around the world for the first total eclipse in years, a solar show that will sweep northeast from Brazil to Mongolia and blot out the sun across swathes of the world's poorest lands. The last such eclipse in November 2003 was most visible from Antarctica, said Alex Young, a NASA scientist involved in solar research.
Wednesday's eclipse will block the sun in highly populated areas, including West Africa. NASA said it won't be visible from the United States. [CONT'D. HERE]
