What is all this comparing people and parties to Nazis? It is reprehensible and shows a complete ignorance, do you hear me NAACP and all you illiterate kiddies? No links because I see no reason to advance this type of garbage. Free speech may be a right, but speaking freely isn't always right, especially when you don't know the first thing about what you are talking about. Old has-been leaders, like Julian Bond, have seen their day in the limelight. Like others of his ilk, they have outlived there usefulness to their movement. What may have been true for 1950 or 1960 has no basis today in 2006, where we have minority leaders in the highest positions in the land and business and home ownership is at an all time high. What it amounts to is that the old base who listened to these former leaders of the civil rights movement have moved on. And isn't that what this is all about? They can't win against the new more inclusive view, so they try to demonize. Well, fewer and fewer are buying into the old ideas that minorities are so helpless they couldn't possibly succeed without handouts and preferences. Their way didn't work, it destroyed the spirit and demoralized the youth. It sets up a caste system and tells whole segments of the population to resign themselves to being part of the "untouchables." With the advent of cable and satellite TV and the rise of the Internet, the playing field has never been more level and those who have been held down by these failed policies of the left are seeing that success comes through hard work, competition, and the recognition of merit. They see that education is the key and the tools are there for everyone, if they will only take advantage of them. And most of all, when looking for a political home, they are seeing that the Republicans are offering policies that respect them as individuals. With self respect comes confidence and confidence breeds success on all levels.
