See my original post for overview of this case HERE
I know I should be unbiased and say I'll wait for ALL the facts before passing judgment, but I can not pretend to be unbiased about the deputies of the Chino station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. I am very aware of their tactics and the more of this case I see unfolding the more I feel like I've entered a time warp and all the fear, humiliation, and pain comes flooding back. I was diagnosed with PTSD after my encounter with this department's finest and for the first time I'm experiencing flashbacks outside my nightmares. And I keep seeing my poor Mother in her last four years of life refusing to go to bed without her aluminum baseball bat under her covers and telling me every night, "don't worry dear, I'll protect us." No, I can't be unbiased.
The latest showing of the video was on my local news and I've now seen it enough times to be able to anticipate the action and to listen carefully to the very end. It sends chills all over me. You hear the shots and see the deputy's shadow pointing the gun. You hear Airman Carrion crying out in pain and then the shot of him writhing on the ground, all the while the deputy insanely yelling, "shut up, shut the f**k up" over and over. Then you hear the bystander's voice, perhaps the guy holding the video camera, saying to the deputy, "you told him to get up." And, you hear the deputy yelling into his radio, "shots fired, shots fired," which is the most bizarre thing of all. What was he trying to do, call in the cavalry so we could witness another one of those mass cop neighborhood shootouts that seem to be a So. Calif. specialty? One commentator postulated that maybe the deputy goofed and said, "get up," when he meant to say get down. So, does that mean he goofed again and thought someone else fired those shots, thereby explaining his "shots fired, shots fired" call? A mistake or departmental spin or ?
This cop should be in jail on attempted murder charges, not walking around on paid administrative leave. That's about as unbiased as I'm capable of being.
The public as a rule has no idea how vicious some of these guys are, nor how vindictive they can be. The man who made the video tape has already had a taste. According to an interview this afternoon, he says they have pulled him over for traffic stops 3 times since the event Tuesday night and that his car has been searched. It won't stop there, if they follow true to form. As I noted in my first post, we had to move completely out of that county in order to get the post incident harassment to stop and even that didn't stop the harassing phone calls. This witness/videographer is very smart to have hired a well known attorney who has some media experience. It is also smart that the attorney is from another county. After two years of run-a-round in the Chino court, we had to ask for a change of venue due to a serious conflict of interest that my attorney discovered our judge had and failed to reveal.
The officer's name is Ivory J. Webb IV, according to this article:

I can't verify the accuracy -- this is just something I found while researching this topic on the web. This story is horrifying. I hope to God this officer is charged and tried for attempted murder.

Terrible stuff. My condolences to you as well. About the "shots fired" call, I think it's standard procedure to make that call, when any shots are fired, regardless of who the shooter is (officer, perp, civilian, etc).

"One commentator postulated that maybe the deputy goofed and said, "get up," when he meant to say get down."
Another person I saw on the local news speculated that the deputy _may_ have been telling the passenger (still in the car) to get up. He wasn't trying to make excuses for the shooting, though, as he also indicated that procedure should have been for the deputy (alone, with two suspects) to wait for backup to arrive, while using his patrol car for cover in case the people in the car were armed.

Why does this cop still have a job?? Administrative leave?? We have all seen the footage, he shot an airman for no good reason. Totally unacceptable behavior for a "peace officer". I am beyond disgusted by this shooting. I am even more disgusted by the "expert" who tried to justify the officer in shooting this great man who just got back from serving our country. I pray for Airman Carrion's swift recovery and for justice to be exacted against this officer. I do not agree with those who call for vengeance, but I believe he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I can only hope that the United States Government gets involved and prosecutes the sherrif. If this was an Air Force Officer or Academy Graduate the JAG office wouldve been involved immediatly. Tell me someone will prosecute this roque officer.

I Hope to god that deputy does not get off on this. i mean, now everytime you get pulled over by the police, you have to worry about the possiblilty you may get shot if you do what he or she tells you to. Its stupid
that cops hide behind there badge to the point the feel they can shoot whenever they want. I think this is a federal matter due to the fact the guy was in the air force and to make it worst, he was military police.
i want to say that he is black, well i am black and i hope he goes to jail on attempted murder charges. point blank.
